Employment Tribunal Guidance on hearings during Covid-19 restrictions
by Sunny Rafaeli
The President of the Employment Tribunals in England and Wales recently issued a letter highlighting that while tighter Covid-19 restrictions operate across England and Wales, physical attendance at an Employment Tribunal venue should be the exception and only where it is necessary in the interests of justice.
The Tribunals will facilitate remote attendance as often as possible in an attempt to reduce footfall. Listings will be reviewed to see if any scheduled in-person hearings can be converted to hybrid or remote hearings. However, it was also confirmed that users should assume that any hearing scheduled to take place on an in-person or hybrid basis will continue to take place, unless they hear to the contrary.
