EWI Online Conference 2022
Remote court hearings are unquestionably here to stay. On 20 May 2022, Andrew King spoke at the Expert Witness Institute Online Conference about the lessons we can take from the pandemic and discussed his tips for conducting remote hearings. He was part of a panel and spoke alongside Ali Bajwa QC, Her Honour Judge Rosa Dean and Michael Polak of Church Court Chambers.
In the conference, Andrew explored what practices are expected to remain in place and which are likely to come to an end as the judiciary adapt to a return to the physical courtroom.
Andrew commented on the conference by stating, “I really enjoyed speaking at the EWI Annual Conference. It was an honour to share ‘the stage’ with Ali Naseem Bajwa QC, Her Honour Judge Rosa Dean and Michael Polak of Church Court Chambers. We had the first slot of the conference, following the keynote address from The Right Honourable Lord Hamblen of Kersey, Justice of the Supreme Court.”
Andrew’s book on remote hearings, The Virtual Workspace: 50 Tips for Effective Video Conferencing remains valid, particularly for those unsure or uncomfortable with how to approach a remote hearing.
Andrew has been an Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL)
accredited Senior Litigator since 2011. He has considerable experience of
handling a variety of personal injury instructions including road traffic
accidents, accidents at work and accidents that arise on someone else’s
property.
